Critical Reflection #5

5/11/20

Throughout the process of my senior project I’ve noticed that the most effective process for me and for successfully working on my project is being able to stick to a loose schedule and setting deadlines for myself. I found early on in the process that an exact, minute to minute schedule was super ineffective because I found that when I was researching for example I would find that I would get into a rhythm and spend more time one day researching than I had originally allotted. This would then throw off the whole schedule since the times would be originally so precise. After around two weeks of this I realized that this was not going to work. I decided to instead work with a loose schedule, noting what I wanted to get done each day rather than have a strict schedule that would end up falling apart. What I found after using this technique for a few days was that it was incredibly effective and surprisingly motivational. Since then that’s been my process for approaching senior project work. Every week I plan out the major things I want to accomplish, for example what recipe I want to make, or how much of my class I want to finish. Then each day I look at the smaller steps I need to take in order to accomplish that.

As for the question of what I know now that I don’t know, I’m pretty sure I addressed that in my first critical reflection, and I feel like, looking back over it, my thoughts haven’t changed dramatically at all, and so it would be redundant to repeat that writing.
