sewing CR # 4

This week I learned an important lesson: sewing is hard. While listening to music, I had sewed red shorts into a crop top. It has taken many hours and I am still not done. This was soothing while at the same time, very challenging. It was definitely outside my comfort zone.

Originally, I thought sewing was going to be easy, but I was wrong. I started to wonder why I thought it was going to be easy (as if you can be a pro after one hour of doing the same motion over and over). I realized it was internalized misogyny that made me think it was so easy. I later found this funny Instagram post on the nonprofit organization @fash_rev that explained why I thought it was going to be so much easier. In reality, its slow and hard work. You must have patience and look at the details.

While sewing, I slipped up and made one mistake, causing me to cut the thread and redo that section. I tried to skip the pinning step, which I later learned was a bad idea, for its the most important step, although it has the least reward and takes the l0ngest time.
