Peter Mamaev senior project update 5/7

5/7/2020

I must say, after a somewhat hectic and discouraging week last week, I think I’m getting to a better place. I am almost done with the pen section of the comic (and ready to move on to the ink wash finish). I have found myself working at a much, more more leisurely pace, but that’s fine for the time being. At the very least I genuinely like how my work is coming out again, instead of forcing myself to trudge along to a tight schedule. This is certainly as easy and uneventful as this project is going to get.

In terms of structure, I am sort of disappointed in myself in how text-heavy everything has become. This is fairly necessary in terms of story (and next issue would hypothetically be even more text heavy than this one), but at this point the last few pages are more text than art. In that sense, it has actually become a proper Garth Ennis comic. Nonetheless, it seems like I won’t have to go over the page limit after all, as everything appears to fit fairly nicely within the average 22-page format. That is certainly a lovely little relief.
