Comic Strip #4: “Birthday Picnic”

This is the final comic, which I documented a piece of earlier. I think this is the first comic where I like the idea a lot more than the outcome. The first scene, though it was hard to get the anatomy correct, it was somewhat easy to work through because I had a direct model reference. The other images though, I had a lot of trouble with composition and “angles.” In scene two, I had trouble with the angle of the table and the car and how the figures would stand on the ground. And in the rest of the scenes, I had a lot of trouble setting up a maquette that I could use as a reference, therefore I think subconsciously I went with the easiest way to compose the images, rather than the most interesting option. Although I don’t see this comic strip as my most successful, I think it’s more important to move on rather than to overwork this one.
