Since I completed a lot of interviews last week, this week of my project has been more focused around research and writing. This week, the type of exercise I focused on was resistance/weight training. As a result of gym closures, many people are not currently able to keep up with their strength training routines. Since weight training often requires equipment, it can be difficult to do from home. However, I researched the different, creative ways that people are using household items to recreate moves that they would normally do with weights or machines. I have been experimenting with a variety of these exercises and I’ve had a lot of fun creating my own routines and circuits based on my research and from apps and other online platforms.

I have also started doing some writing based on the research I have done thus far. I wrote a write-up on my findings on the science of yoga and its mental health benefits. I also got started on a longer report that I will be writing on the benefits of exercise on mental health and the brain. Hopefully, I will be able to use these as part of my final product. I have been struggling at times to figure out what my final product should look like, and making sure that my work is in alignment with my essential question. I want to make sure that my research and writing will come together and serve a purpose in some larger final product. I want to ensure that my work is meaningful and informative within the context of current events, rather than just restating facts and numbers. I am still working on finding ways to achieve this goal.
