As a way of finding some inspiration, I wanted to watch the documentary, Amy, the documentary on Amy Winehouse’s. Even though the documentary itself is about more than just her music, seeing her life and whagmt she went through gives you a deeper insight into her music and song lyrics. There were small things that I noted, like how she didn’t like using strings in her songs and how she liked working fast. Amy Winehouse has always been a big idol of mine because she is a strong female persona with a voice that isn’t the clean cut female singing voice you often hear. As a kid that used to listen to high school musical on a loop, Amy Winehouse was one of the artists that made me enjoy music in a different way that wasn’t just a sad song about a boy. She wrote her songs as if it were poetry which is definitely something I think anyone who is beginning to songwrite should do.
