#3, April 18th – Nate

It’s the end of the second week, horror week, and we’ve put out 6 episodes, 3 edited by Kamara and 3 edited by me. We’ve got a total of 115 downloads (which I think is different from streams but I don’t really know. Still, a good start!) After having edited this week, I definitely prefer when Kamara edits because it can be very tedious work. But, I am learning how to use Adobe Audition and also any experience editing sound is good experience, so I’m happy to do it. I’m also getting more experience recording sound with my lavalier microphone (I’m trying to get smaller files but relatively same audio quality) so that’s also good work.

Kamara and I, I think, have been having some really great and insightful conversations. We’ve also been having fun, of course, and the podcast is kind of silly sometimes, which I think makes it easier to listen to. When you can tell the people are having a good time, when you can hear the smile through their voice, for me at least, the listening experience is infinitely better. I think our conversation about Martyrs specifically was really insightful and well done, although I’ve noticed that I tend to have very scattershot opinions, where I bring up a bunch of stuff and never really dive deep. Going forward, I’m going to try to preplan what I say just a little bit more so I cover everything I want to cover (and I want to say “like” and “um” a little less.)

We haven’t really disagreed on a movie yet (on general thoughts), so I’m looking forward to that, but, overall, I think we’re understanding films alone and in context with the world around them. Everything’s going really well. Going forward, we’re going to try to get some of our friends on the podcast. I hope it goes well.
