Name: Gus D.
Social Justice Group: Veterans/Life After War
Date of Fieldwork: February 23, 2018
Name of Organization: Individual
Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Patrick Savage
Type of Fieldwork: Interview
What I did:
For our fieldwork, we took the train to the Morgan Stanley headquarters in time square to interview an Army veteran. We asked him a set of questions about veterans and the most pressing issues they face.
What I learned:
We learned that many veterans can’t get to places they need because of lack of help for people with disabilities. Also, the VA has so much paperwork that hey can’t give people the help they need and deserve.
What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
We learned that first of all many civil rights issues aren’t very obvious and that it is really helpful and enlightening to see kids trying to make a change. I think it makes people that are suffering feel like there is hope.
