On Wednesday November 19th my group and I visited the New York Center for Children. This is a place where children who have been abused before can go and get therapy. They have many toys for the children to play with so they can feel right at home, while being asked difficult questions. As we toured the facility we noticed how welcoming the place is. They really try and make an effort to helping the kids out. NYCC is mainly helping the kids and families out after an incident has happened. We spoke with Christine who is one of the head people at NYCC and she say’d that kids go after school and while there will be asked questions about anything recent that has happened. After a decent amount of visits the families might feel that they don’t need to go to this place anymore. But Christine and the other workers will cola berate about what they think is best for the kid. NYCC can work with any age of kids. They are a very welcoming organization that aims to help the kids out. While there we saw all of their ways of seeing the kids while being asked questions. In one room they have a window where on onside they can see what is happening and on the other it just looks like a window. They also have a doctor who will look at the kids and see if anything new has occurred on their bodies. In all NYCC is a great organization that helps kids get pest a difficult time in their childhood.
