The Man In An Orange Shirt

The Man In The Orange Shirt

I see a man in an orange shirt

He said his name was Kert

Kurt had a friend named Bert

And Bert was very hurt

So Kurt had to leave me there with my very own orange shirt

And a new job at the store for clothing store for mini-skirts.

I was wearing an orange shirt and since we were rhyming that day I just started coming up with words that rhymed with shirt and I just wrote down nonsense and it just came out like a comedy poem. There is rhyme and line breaks. I think it is just a funny poem and I just like how it is funny.

Dawn

Dawn

I see the sunrise

On the horizon, right here

But so far away

I was inspired by the sunrise when I go to the beach. If you sit on the beach you feel like you can see the sun right in front of you and then you remember that it is on the other side of the world. It is a haiku so the line breaks go:

5 syllables

7 syllables

5 syllables

It has line breaks and imagery. I really feel like it is well write and I really like the way it turned out. It really feels true and I like the way it sounds in words.

Happiness

happiness

Happiness

You should

Try being cheerful

You’ll be glad to

Smile

I was inspired because I was really happy the day I wrote it and I wanted to share that joy. My poem is a cinquain. So it is five lines and each line has a certain number of words per line so it goes:

1 word

2 words

3 words

4 words

1 word

There is line breaks and beat. I really like how my poem turned out. I am proud because I feel that it really conveys the message I was trying to get across.

My Map Project

I would like to name this work of art NYC Life

I created this work of art by cutting out pieces of my map out in shapes that could symbolize how I felt about different places in NYC. Then I glued it onto a big black in white map so they would stand out. Some of things I learned while creating it were it  is hard to cut with exact knifes in a circle and they are mostly made for straight lines and that everyone has a different view of the city. My favorite part is my heart piece because it symbolizes that I love Manhattan and even though the heart is surrounding central park which I love I also love Manhattan and it also surrounds the word Manhattan. If I could change something about it, it would be it would be that the  black and white map was of all of NYC and not of just downtown Manhattan. While making it I was surprised that there is a subway stop almost everywhere in the city. Something else I want to share about this artwork is I spent a lot of time and work and I really put some feeling into each of the places.
