Math Test

Screenshot 2015-11-06 at 9.26.42 AMThis was our first take-home test.

I felt like the take home test was much easier because we got to kinda relax because we were at home. We also had a lot more time to do it. The take-home test helped me stay focused and I think I did better than last time.

Beowulf annotations

When we were annotating Beowulf we had to underline important parts, circle and define vocab we did’t know, and write a chapter summery for every chapter. Annotating is important, but I think that the chapter summery was the most helpful. It really helped when we had to write the thisis statement and out writing stories because we didn’t have to read each chapter over again we could just look at the summery. I’m really proud that I defined every word that I circled because there were a lot of words that I didn’t know and now I know them. I want to improve on under lining important parts because I think I under lined more than the important parts.

Old messy page

New improved page

My notebook for the most part is neat  but sometimes when you only have one problem you tend to get a little more rushed. Also sometimes when you have to solve a lot of problems you try to fit all of the problems on one page and your math can get kinda squished.

Its important to  keep your work neat so that people can read it and you can read it when you need to look back at it.

Ashokan trip

Screenshot 2015-10-26 at 10.26.51 AMThe ropes course was my favorite part of the trip, it was also the most interesting thing. We started on a rope ladder that twisted with your every move, then we walked across a thin wire healed up by a harness. We crawled across two ropes and on to a wooden balance beam. The we went across little swing then on a zipline.

On Ashokan we learned how the the Gourge was created.

This trip was different that last year because we got to go black smithing and go on the ropes course and go canoeing. The meals were a little bit better that last year. The whole trip was a little bit more fun than last year with all the new kids and different groups.

Beowulf project

For the Beowulf project Julia put us into small groups of one and two. EaScreenshot 2015-10-13 at 1.38.12 PMch group was given a person or a place to draw. The drawing had to be detailed because we got all the description from the book.. We were being graded on how well we worked as a group and how well we payed attention the the book and it’s details.

I was really proud of my work because my group put a lot of time and effort into it. We tried to make really clean and good drawings. but here and there we would mess up on matching characteristics with drawings. I thought that that was the most challenging part.

The Secret Life of Ms. Finkleman

Screen Shot 2015-09-08 at 9.44.12 PMThe final book I read this summer was titled The Secret Life of Ms. Finkleman by Ben H. Winters. The main characters of this book are name is Bethesda (She is an interesting seventh grader who loves mystery solving) and Tenny (the schools rock and roll wiz). The story really starts when Bethesda gets curious about the Music teacher Ms. Finkleman. But there seems to be some questioning as to who Ms. Finkleman really is. Bethesda gets more and more eager to solve the mystery.  But when she solves the mystery for a school project, the whole school finds out that Ms. Finkleman…is a retired ROCK STAR! But when Ms. Finkleman is pointed out that her past has been revealed Bethesda is realizing maybe she shouldn’t have solved the mystery. As the story goes on Ms. Finkleman decides to put on a rock and roll performance for the schools Coral Choral with the help of bethesda and Tenny. The grade is separated in to three groups to perform at the Coral Choral, music of the 60s, 80 and 90. The whole seventh grade over the corse of the year is transformed in to rock stars and leaves the audience of the Coral Choral speechless.

The Hampton Classic

The Hampton Classic is the biggest horse show of the summer, people from all over come to watch and show. When you first begin horse back riding your goal is to show in the Classic at the end of the summer. The Classic is a week long show because there are some many people and so many horses and divisions. It Screen Shot 2015-08-30 at 9.58.44 AMstarted on a Sunday and I showed on Tuesday. I had to arrive at 8:00 a.m. It was already so hot by 9:00 that my pony was completely wet from her sweat from warming up before we even entered the ring. I never get nerves for horse shows but right before I went in the ring I totally freaked out. I didn’t want to tell anyone because I had already told them I was completely confident. I walked into the ring and before I knew it I was over the last jump and out the ring. It wasn’t my best round but I knew I has five more rounds to make up for it.

Tubing

I went tubing with my cousin Beatrice. We went on a flat tube like in the picture. Tubing is one of those things that no matter how manny times you so it, it is still nerve racking getting on that tube. My dad told us to jump in the water and to get on. We both struggled getting on the tube laughing and crimages-1ying  even though the boat hadn’t even started. Once it did start we felt our bodies lift off the tube then slam back on. We were both screaming on the top of our lungs hoping we would get off the wake and then at the same time wanting to stay on the wake. As the boat made a sharp turn our tube whipped itself around and off the wake. Beatrice was now up side down on top of me holding on to my shoulders as if it was the end of the world. I let go plunging in to the water. Once the boat came around Beatrice said “i had a really soft landing.” But I was thinking to myself, thats because you were on me.
