Critical Reflection #5

Jonathan Hodge- Senior Project CR #5
“On Metacognition…”
Throughout my project I have taken note of the ways in which I wander off on many different ideas while I read a text or do research. I have continuously taken note of the times in which I sit to try and find the “answer” to one of my questions around classism and how it’s found in the industry, and next thing I know, I find myself looking at interviews or lookbooks of people that have not much to do with my original task. I believe I do this so often because of how exciting the fashion world is at the end of the day. While, yes, there are many issues that go by unnoticed in this industry (a strong point in my research), fashion is still life, culture, you, me, us. So in a world where we discriminate against each other, a world in which I may have an advantage that the next person might not, the bottom line has been (and should always be) the fact that we are using fashion to be a symbol of global beauty and history.
