Writing a Screen Play #3

Now that I find myself traveling in a different direction in terms of plot and storyline, I decided to share one of my earliest outlines for my screenplay. This is back when I was planning on centering the story around the murder of a friend, and not a more relatable pre-college life narrative.

Outline (Draft #1):

Beginning:

It starts with a short scene of a bloodied face and body walking down the street without context, as the following scenes will build to this.

Next, we see our main character, Taylor, wake up in the middle of class as his teacher slams their hand on his desk. He is asked to go to the principles office for falling asleep in class repeatedly.

Then, during the lunch period, we follow him and to a nearby park where we introduce him and his friends. They bring up a party happening later that night, and their plans to go to said party. Taylors friends have set him up with a girl at the party that he wants to possibly date.

At the party, Taylor meets this girl and things are going really well until one of his friends comes in and tell him that Eric is in a fight with some other guy and that he needs to help. He arrives and Eric has badly hurt another kid. Both of them are throwing punches and other kids are pushing them back. Taylor pulls him off successfully and gets Eric to leave the party and sit outside to talk about it. Eric explains he was hurting the kids because he was called poor and that his parents are alcoholics, both things that he is insecure about because they are founded in truth.

Just as it appears that Eric has calmed down, he sees the kid across the street. The other kid flips him off and says something else to antagonize Eric, and on an impulse, Eric picks up and brick and hits the kid. Eric is on top of him and throwing punches even though the other kid is motionless and looks almost dead. By the time Taylor is able to stop Eric, the other kid is almost definitely dead and Eric is covered head to toe in his blood.

 [End of Plot Point 1]

I decided to abandon this idea and move towards something else because I reached the end of my first act and had no idea where I wanted it to go or even how to conclude such a story. For days I tried to brainstorm different ways I could work around this beginning, however, I never came to any satisfactory conclusions or ways that I could find confidence in continuing to write.
