Pierre’s CR #5

Essential Question:

To what extent does the role of Excell play in businesses and how much more efficient does it make work for people who use it?

As one of the most widely used computer software programs for business today, Excel is an important skill for all business professionals to have. Having a working knowledge of excel is vital for most office-based professionals today and the stronger strong excel skills can oftentimes lead you to promotion and leadership opportunities. Excel is a spreadsheet program that allows you to store, organize, and analyze information. Excel is the most widely used application in all of excel.

What have you discovered about your process, your habits?

I have discovered that I work best in the morning when I wake up early (9 am). Waking up any later prevents me from achieving an efficient amount of work. I have also discovered that I work well in my room, especially at my desk, which I cleaned up as a project during quarantine. An average day looked like me waking up at 9:30 AM in which I would start working by ten. I would work 1-2 hours on online classes taking courses and quizzes. I made a little schedule where I would usually eat around 12:00-12:30. After this, I usually worked for another 2-3 hours. With all of this free time on my hands, I thought this was the perfect time to learn how to cook. Yes, I’m not much of a cook. I worked aside my dad and made meals like calamari, ribs, sushi, an assortment of vegetables, and more.

Now, what do you know you don’t know? Circle back to your essential question.

In my essential question, the phrasing of, “how much more efficient does it make work for people who use it?” implies that I would have to do research about someone who uses excel in work vs someone who doesn’t. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to solve this question rather, “What is the difference between self-taught excel users and ones who learn on courses like these?” I compared myself to my dad and was able to see many similarities, but he wasn’t aware of a couple of Excel’s time-saving tools.
