Documentation Post #2 (Week 1)

André Leon Talley

The life and career of André Leon Talley has been a golden and much needed example of inclusivity and diversity in the fashion world. Known for his eccentric capes and coverings of the Met Gala, this southern icon has reported on la mode as Vogue’s senior editor, as well as Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine, WWomens Wear DailyNumero, and countless other publications.

Apart from his undisputed knowledge on all things fashion, Leon Talley’s account also speaks for men of color who have had to push forward with all odds against them. Although I will not be able to read his upcoming memoir, The Chiffon Trenches in time for when the senior project experience ends, I do plan on including many of his notes regarding his experiences within fashion as a minority.
