Dakota Critical Reflection 5

Essential question: What impact does cooking Cantonese food have on me and my family?

Through the process called Senior Project, I have realized that my process works well when I have a clear goal and thing I want to accomplish (ie: learning Cantonese recipes from my childhood). However, I also realized that I have a habit of procrastinating when I have no set schedule.

Through Senior Project, I’ve realized that I actually enjoy cooking because it is methodical but creative at the same time. I find it entertaining and enjoy having my own space to work at my own pace, listening to music and dancing and kinda doing whatever I want at the time while still being able to get the food done and cooked!

I have a habit of sleeping in when I don’t have a set schedule but enjoy the work of going food shopping (even corona-era shopping with long grocery lines outside the stores) and cooking food. It all ends up being worth it because I can share my food and hard work with my family and they enjoy it and give me feedback. I enjoy sharing my work and improving my skills. It’s fulfilling.

I still don’t know the impact Cantonese food specifically has on my habits. Do I enjoy cooking because I’m cooking food that I feel a connection to or is it that I like cooking??? Do I procrastinate less when I enjoy what I am doing?
