“What I Know versus What I Don’t Know”

Thinking about what I already know, my topic/essential question has been one that I have explored for the last couple of years as it relates so much to the way me and other people of color are treated in the fashion industry and beyond. I know that there is so much bias and prejudice that exists today. I hope to be able to create a work so revealing that people in the forefront of try industry will promise to make change. I have definitely been challenged to think of my project in different mediums/channels/ideas — it is not as “direct” as one would imagine it to be.

What I don’t know… I do have to say that it will be a challenge to think of the ways in which a proposal for an “end solution” could be found. That is, if this is such a large global systemic issue, how can little ol’ me make it stop? Am I to call for a revolution? Am I supposed to be the Fashion Renaissance Malcolm X? I should explore ways in which my final report can be seen as both documentation that highlights accounts of treatment, connect it to societal issues, and yet also propose a resolution—similar to a manifesto. I don’t know if I have the power to do this though..
