Critical Reflection #2: Describe a moment and analyze (CR2)

One interesting moment I had recently was while I was working on my second look, “Picnic for Porcelina.” I had a caftan out of a couch swatch and shoes to match. I had also made her pants out of fallen leaves outside of my house. While I aesthetically enjoyed the look, I felt it was kind of incomplete but I wasn’t quite sure what to add. I then had a couple of the leaves for the pants left over and I remembered how sturdy the stems of the leaves were. This gave me the idea to use the stems to make a had. This by far was the most lengthy part of this look. While the caftan was a glorified circle of fabric this hat was about 10 leaf stems, a Porcelina size bucket of hot glue and 6 hours of work. While I am very early on in the process, making the hat was one of my favorite moments so far. This relates to my essential question in a more general sense. While the hat added cohesion and helped me to realize that a head piece of some kind is essential, I think it more so was the piece of craftsmanship for this particular look. I think the piece that I felt was a part of this look with a focus on execution, and while it may not be the best piece ever made, I think it was a good representation of a focus on construction, at least for me. Through making the hat process I definitely had to exercise grit. As aforementioned, the hat took six hours to make and this took me about two or three sessions because I had to twist each stem and glue it in the exact same way as the stem before. I think the thing that kept me going through was I knew that I was going to be at least relatively happy with the final project and that the effort was hopefully going to pay off.
