Critical Reflection #3: Describe a moment and analyze – Tibeau Ferguson

Through my experience this trimester and senior project, I have learned a lot about both brutalism and photography. My essential question is: How can I depict brutalism through photography? I think that now I am halfway done with both the time I have and mostly done with my project, I think that it is a perfect combo. Brutalism does not go hand in hand with many things, but it does go extremely well with art.

This is also why I decided to make a book. I have many many reference photography books in my home. One is actually a brutalism book, called: This Brutal World by PHAIDON books. If there was one book that my book closely relates to the most would have to be A Modern Vision by photographer Berenice Abbott. Its modern look and feel make this style perfect for my general theme of the book. Making the book is a lot harder than I thought it would actually be. The front and back cover took me 45 minutes alone. The curating the photos and making sure all the page numbers are aligned and the same as the previous page and making sure nothing goes outside of the safe print area. These are things I did not really think about at all when I decided to make a book.

Although it seems like a lot, I feel that it is something I can push through and will be finished very soon so I can order them before the senior project ends.
