This week I made milk bread for the first time! It was quite the experience as I had never made bread before. It ended up being very rewarding; even though I messed up the dough several times, I ended up making two loaves (kinda) of Chinese milk bread that resembled the ones you can find in Chinese bakeries.
The first time I made the bread, I didn’t realize the yeast (active dry yeast) needed to be activated with warm liquids and so I waited and when the bread wasn’t rising I realized that something was wrong and then realized my mistake. To remedy this, I warmed up milk and heavy cream in the microwave and then put the yeast in.

I also made steamed spare ribs on my own for the first time and learned how to use a steamer! It was a journey as I steamed the ribs in a metal pan inside of a wok filled with water and had to find something to put on top of the steamer rack under the pan with the ribs so I could fill the wok with enough water. They came out very tender and good!

I also got good at cooking fried rice with a variety of ingredients. The key is to have dry cold (preferably old) rice so it doesn’t stick together.
