Critical Reflection #2: Describe a moment and analyze – Tibeau Ferguson

My Dad and I were driving up to White Planes to take photos of some buildings there. We got there and we started taking photos of the Verizon building. We then walk down to the White Planes Public Library and also get some photos of that as well. While we were walking back down to our car, I tried to get one last photo of the library and suddenly, click, my camera shutter went dark. This moment scared me so much because we had just bought a new camera because my Dad’s old camera, the same model, had done the same thing. So we thought it was just the batteries and waited until the next day to go get some batteries. We went to five different places before getting the right kind of batteries. When I put them in, to my surprise the camera still didn’t work. For the next hour, I had to do research on why this was happening. It turns out that when you open the camera, the black shutter piece in the center had not moved over properly, so when I gave it a little pressure on the side, boom, it went back and everything was working again. Then we realized that the old camera had the same problem, so we went and got that fixed as well. After this whole shebang, we handed in the film to The Color House and went on with our day. Now, about a week later, I am missing about two full rolls of film and have 1 half roll that should be full, 3 blank rolls handed back, and a roll with two photos on it. This was really disappointing because I knew that I would not be able to go back and reshoot the buildings that had been lost in time. Luckily for me, I did take some photos on my phone as a backup. This whole experience has not been fun but I know that I have to finish what I started, and even if this means not using all the photos I took with my film camera. I will still add some into the book, but overall it is something I will continue to overcome.
