Critical Reflection #2

Critical Reflection #2

Write about a single experience or moment, and ask: how does this moment, experience, or encounter relate to my essential question?

I have been having a much harder time writing a screenplay than I had originally anticipated. I have restarted my script seven or eight about now, and I am finding it challenging to produce something that I don’t want to immediately change. The process essentially begins with me writing a scene or two in the morning, and then by the late afternoon, I want to delete it all and start over. I am now currently working on restructuring my outline so that I have the strongest foundation possible when I begin the writing process again. At this point, I just need to power through the initial stages of my work, and only worry about edits after I have created something.

Despite proving difficult and complex, I continue to be extremely passionate about the work I am able to do. I truly enjoy being able to create a world that is mine to manipulate and alter the way I see fit. It is both a liberating and rewarding process that I am happy to continue with. I am eager to see where my story may take me, and the kinds of shifts and changes that will come my way. I am still investing my time watching and researching cinema that reflects my interests and the kind of work I am looking to be inspired by. I have already learned so much simply by mindfully observing the details and larger elements of narratives that have found themselves successful in the entertainment industry.
