Syd Field’s Screenplay

For the past two weeks, I have been reading Screenplay, by Syd Field, and using it to better help me learn how best to structure, format, and begin my own work. This book is filled with information, from how to start a character from scratch to how to properly end a narrative. It has been incredibly helpful getting me on my feet and feeling confident enough to even write just the first page. Thus far, it is taking me numerous attempts to design my own characters and put them into a world that will do them justice. With so many different possible directions to choose from, it is increasingly difficult to settle on just one idea. I have continued to free write concepts for scenes, and I am trying to form characters that are engaging, realistic, and likable. Hopefully, In the coming chapters of Screenplay, I can learn even more about how to lay the foundations out for my story and support it the best I can.
