Street Sense; Entry 1 – Amouri Edwards

April 4th, 2020

It is day three of the Senior Project. So far I have learned a lot about editing, multitasking, and scheduling in this short span of time. First off, there is a lot to learn in terms of premiere pro and getting the type of short film I want to be accomplished, especially since I need to do a lot of typography and motion graphics in place of the live footage. I’m confident that with the help of youtube I will be able to get the effects I want it’s just a very large learning curve.

In terms of multitasking, trying to edit audio and also edit the introduction, as well as my script, is very hard. It’s a lot of work to stay focused on one task and quite overwhelming but taking short breaks has helped with that.

For scheduling I learned that time flies and relying on others is hard. I underestimate how fast time goes, but I’ve spent much of my time in quarantine on this project anyways and I think this time indoors will be great for progress. I’ve been having conflict trying to align times with one of my interviewees.

So far, I recorded the audio for the introduction of the short film (which will follow the opening credits), and have been editing/animating that. I did research for the history of busking, and added that to the script.

I interviewed my first subject! His name is Cyzon Griffin and he’s a drummer. The 25-minute interview was very insightful and inspiring.

Today I worked on editing the audio down from the 25-minute interview to around 6 useful minutes. I hope my other subjects won’t have too much to say because the film is to be around 20 minutes itself. So far so good, I’m liking the progress I’m making!
