Visiting Macky and Steady Buckets

We met With Macky the founder of Steady Buckets, a non-profit basketball organization at the Chinatown Ymca. We Interviewed him about how so many kids in New York City don’t have access or the money for good basketball coaching, gyms, etc, and how he is trying to provide all of this to everyone in the city.

Basketball for All

We went to one of their practices and talked about and learned about Steady Buckets. We also had a follow up meeting with him after at LREI.

Meeting at Columbia University

We went to Columbia University and listened to a meeting about social justice and sports. We learned a lot. At the end, we talked to all of them but the most informational one was Dr. Glenn Bracey. We got his email and phone number and are trying to follow up with him.

We went to steady buckets and sat in on a practice and asked Mackey some questions. We then had a follow-up meeting and talk about things to potentially do for our teach in.

Our group is kids access to sports in NYC. We believe that every kid should get the same opportunity to play and enjoy sports just as we do.
