Touring the AAFSC

Name: Ruby Wexler

Social Justice Group: Refugees

Date of Fieldwork: December 3, 2017

Name of Organization: Arab-American Family Services Center

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Hannah Mcintire

Type of Fieldwork: Tour of Organization

What I did:

We when to the AAFSC and interviewed Hannah Mcintire and a few other people who worked there. Then they gave us a tour of the organization while explaining what they do and what programs that have.

What I learned:

We learned that it can be hard to get a job or housing for refugees and this is especially hard if you don’t speak English.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

That a lot of people care and want to help others but certain topics are ignored or thought to be not as important.

Rue

Hi! My name is Ruby W. And I care about refugees because it is important that we help people even if they don't directly effect us. This subject is often overlooked. This is important especially now because of our current political climate.
