An Interview With Mr. Al’Rubaye

Name: Ruby Wexler

Social Justice Group: Refugees

Date of Fieldwork: December 6, 2017

Name of Organization:

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Ahmed Al’Rubaye

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

What I did:

We had a face-time interview with Mr. Al’Rubaye, a refugee from Iraq, who gave us first hand information on refugees.

What I learned:

One thing that we learned was that generally you are allowed to come into America with your family, though people over the age of twenty-one are counted separately. So if you were trying to get into America with your family, and your brother was twenty-one he may not be allowed to enter with your family.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that people who have been in a situation, like being a refugee, often want to help others in that same situation because they know how it feels.

Rue

Hi! My name is Ruby W. And I care about refugees because it is important that we help people even if they don't directly effect us. This subject is often overlooked. This is important especially now because of our current political climate.
