Interviewing Bob Carry

Name: Hudson Kassen

Social Justice Group: Refugees

Date of Fieldwork: December 8, 2017

Name of Organization:

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Bob Carry

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

What I did:

We interviewed Bob Carry former head of the ORR

What I learned:

Becoming a refugee can take up to ten years. Also if you are 21 or older you are counted as a separate family from your parents and siblings. We were told that the US is something of a global role model; when the US takes action, other countries follow suit. Under the last administration, the ceiling was set to 110,000, under the current administration the ceiling was set to 45,000, less than half of the prior.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

If you are a good person you can help people even if it won’t affect you. People who don’t have faith in humanity are often the people on the wrong side of the dispute.

Hudson

My name is Hudson. I am interested in the topic of refugees because it's a problem that is very relevant right now. This topic is important because with Donald Trump in office the USA is taking in very few refugees.
