Marion White Visits Lrei

On February 19, Marion White visited our school to talk about child abuse and The Child Abuse Prevention Program to the eighth grade. Marion has been such a large help to our group. The Child Abuse Prevention Program informs young children about child abuse using puppets. This way is child-friendly and effective, yet also gets the serious message across. We have already had meeting with Marion and have seen the CAPP teams in action. Our group felt that it was important for our peers to learn more about the issue. Marion had a presentation where she explained definitions and scenarios of abuse. She also showed parts of the skits their Program does for the kids. I thought it was very interesting having my classmates learn about something we have been studying for such a long period of time. I thought that Marion was the perfect person to explain and inform about child abuse. I thought that this went very well and I am very thankful that Marion was able to come.

My name is Sarah and I am an Eighth grader at Little Red School House Elisabeth Irwin. Preventing child abuse along with helping people who have experienced it is something that I have always been very interested in. I passionately believe that no one should feel unsafe in places that should provide comfort, such as home or school. My group is working hard to make a change so that ones own anger and sadness is not inflicted on children.
