Interview with Cindy Bombeeck

Name: Mabel

Social Justice Group: Human Trafficking

Date of Fieldwork: December 20, 2018

Name of Organization: Restore NYC

Person (people) with whom I met and their job titles: Cindy Bombeeck, Safe Home Manager

Type of Fieldwork: Interview

What I did:

We met Cindy at Le Pain Quotidian, and we asked her what she did and how she got started, and other things. She told us about her job, and we talked about the Social Justice Project.

What I learned:

I learned that white American girls are less likely to be trafficked than foreign-born girls or girls of color, but they get more attention in the media.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that doing work like this can catch you up quickly. It takes time and effort, but it is absorbing, and it feels good to be working for the good of the people.

Mabel Stafford

My name is Mabel and I am a member of the human trafficking group. Human trafficking is when someone is forced into some type of labor in order for the trafficker to gain a valued item. Our aim is to stop human trafficking and help survivors recover.
