Healthier New York – Imagine

Some of the ideas we had to solve the problem of food deserts was to buy healthy food at a supermarket. What that does is when you buy an item, you are instantly voting for it, the more people buy it and the more they will put of that item, after a long time, they will also reduce the price of the healthy item. This helps people in food desert by giving them more healthy food and making it cheaper for them to buy. We also thought of collecting food for a food bank. The first solution felt like one we could actually take on, it is easy to buy healthy food at a supermarket, but we have to make sure that item is “healthy”. However for the second option, we could not see ourselves asking people for food and then giving it to a food bank, it would of been very hard to get food from everyone and also getting in touch with one can be hard sometimes for a group of 8th graders.
