The Homework Machine,

By Alfredo

51xy5tsjzl-_sx324_bo1204203200_My Book Review is on The Homework Machine. This book is by Dan Gutman. In this book the main characters live in Arizona near the Grand Canyon. There are four main characters: Benton, the smart kid, Sam, the kid who thinks he’s cool, Kelsey, the kid who dyes her hair, and Judy, the teacher’s pet. The main problem is that Benton makes a homework machine and Sam, Judy, and Kelsey find out and start using it. If anyone found out about the homework machine, they would get in big trouble.

One event that changes the story is when this guy named Richard Milner e-mails questions to them like “What kind of computer software do you have?” Then after some of the kids get e-mails from Richard, they think maybe he knows about the homework machine! One big decision the main characters make is they all agree that when they are at school and they talk about the homework machine, they can’t say homework machine because they might get caught. They decide to make a code name for the homework machine and they choose Belch.“We needed a code name so we wouldn’t have to say “ the homework machine” out loud in front of other people.” Belch is a big part of the story but the problem does get resolved at the end of the book.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I liked how this story is kind of like a mystery. I also liked the idea of the homework machine. The main character’s personalities were very different but they got along. This book is for people who like mysteries and realistic fiction, because a homework machine could be invented. I would rate this book 4 & ½.
