The highlight of my spring break was probably when I went to Universal with my family. I went to a lot of places in Universal but my favorite was Harry Potter World. There were two places in Harry Potter World: Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. First we went to Diagon Alley. We had to walk to the park though so we went through a path and crossed a bridge that went over very blue water. When we arrived at Diagon Alley, there were shops and buildings that looked like they had been pulled straight out of the Harry Potter series. We decided to go to the stores later because we didn’t want to carry around bags all day. So we went over to Gringotts and we went on the ride, Escape From Gringotts. I thought the ride was cool because of the detailed surroundings. Escape From Gringotts was a ride in which you got into the cart and you basically go on a tour of Gringotts (with a goblin and Bill Weasley) that goes wrong because Bellatrix and Voldemort show up. I didn’t enjoy the ride as much as I thought I would because it went pretty fast and there were a number of long drops. After we “escaped from Gringotts” we went over to the Hogwarts Express through platform “9 and 3/4″and we got on the train. The train ride was a few minutes long. It’s basically like a show because you sit in a train compartment and there are voices and shadows outside the faded window and on the other window you see a video. You would have expected Hogsmeade to be farther away but you can see how far you actually went and Hogsmeade is actually right next to it. In Hogsmeade we went on the Hogwarts ride. It was really fun because they strap you into a chair land go swooping around in the air while you go through different parts. When we got to the dragon, the room got very hot and it spit water on our faces. I also got my wand at Ollivander’s and then we left. We went to the next place to have lunch. After lunch we walked through the rest of the park, stopping at rides, on the way back to Diagon Alley. When we got back we went to the shops. My favorites were Madame Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions and Sugarplum’s Sweets Shop. At Madame Malkin’s I got Hufflepuff robes, hat and scarf as well as a head girl badge and a Hufflepuff shirt. At Sugarplum’s I got a chocolate wand, a few chocolate frogs and fizzing whizbees. I also got other things like quills, ink and stamps. I really had fun there because it was like being in the world of my favorite book series.
