6th Grade Ashokan Trip

This year I went back to Ashokan. One thing I found interesting was blacksmithing because we got to bump air so the fire got bigger. We also got to hammer really hot metal so it bent. I thought it was really fun because we got to do a lot of work. I learned how to survive in the wild. I really liked building a shelter in the woods. Ashokan was fun!

Reading and Writing Timeline

This is my Reading and Writing Timeline. I am really proud of it. The assignment was to make a timeline that represents all the reading and writing I have done in my life. We also had to write two paragraphs. One about reading and one about writing. Julia told us that we were supposed to be creative with our timeline so I decided to make it in a circle. The books are on the outside, and the writing is on the orange Popsicle sticks. I am proud of this because I think I did the best work I could do and put a lot of time and effort into it. I also think I met all the expectations. I really like that I made speech bubbles and explained if I liked the book or not.

Math Before and After

The first picture is before and the bottom picture is after. In the first picture, my answers are not circled and the labels are unclear. In the second picture the labels are clear and the answers are circled. When Margaret told us to make it neater, I looked back at the one that wasn’t neat and I thought of way to make it more clear on the page. I made sure that everything was even horizontally and vertically. This is important because I need to be able to look back on my work and be able to understand what we were doing in math that day. I also need to understand my thinking of how I solved problems.
