What is the process of making comic strips like?
So far during Senior Project I feel like I am partially answering my essential question, but mostly not. First of all, my essential question is not very deep because I completely changed my project in probably less than a day. Since my essential question is somewhat simple, I am gaining experience that answers this question fairly easily (by this, I don’t mean my project itself is easy). I mean that I knew that working in a single “mode” or style every day for a long period of time would be challenging. I knew that going into the project because I’ve experienced this exact challenge in multiple all-day arts and minimesters. It’s really hard to motivate myself sometimes, especially when creating this art becomes more of an assignment rather than something I enjoy. Since I’ve been experiencing this motivation issue and pushing myself to continue to produce art, I think I’ve partially answered my essential question, even though I sort of knew this before starting (if that makes any sense).
I think a huge piece of answering my essential question that I will never get to, is the more professional side. I am not getting to experience learning from or working with a professional full-time artist, therefore I can only answer my essential question from a personal perspective; I can’t see what it is like to work in the art industry, which I imagine is completely different. By working alone, I’m making my own schedule and perhaps working in a strange, inefficient method, since I can only get a limited amount of feedback (since I’m not always with my classmates or James). Therefore, I feel as if overall I haven’t really answered my essential question, since my “answer” to it so far, is something I already knew going into the project. But I still know that I’m getting a lot of useful skills from my Senior Project so far, they just aren’t related to my essential question directly.
