Sofia’s Blog Post #1: First 3 Rolls

I started photography at the beginning of this year in Susans class. For the majority of high school I have taken studio art but for senior year I tried something new. I do not know why but I never thought that much about photography but I realized there are many similarities between my relationship with photo and painting.

Below are from my first three rolls developed in quarantine.

Sometimes I find it hard to figure out what to photograph being stuck inside. Even when I walk to the studio I am painting in, about ten blocks away, I still found myself taking the same pictures. I try to do as much variety as possible and what I’ve learned to do is take pictures before and after the photos subject had been modified. I have more shots of my families dinner but I’m showing these as an example. I took a picture when the food was untouched, when serving and after we were all done and I really liked how they turned out. I am using more than one photo to tell a story rather than just using one.
