This past week at my internship has been super interesting because I finally received my first major project. My task is to create a comprehensive and interactive google form that will serve as an orientation platform for future THP interns and even new employees. So far, I have begun mapping out the outline of the form and have been gradually working on each section. t=The form mainly consists of “fill-in-blank” exercises, multiple-choice questions, and short written responses. I still have a lot of work to do in terms of adding more content, finding videos that are essential to understanding THP and writing interesting questions that will challenge participants to examine their own personal values. At its completion, the form will include photos from THP’s programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as a few videos and speeches that will enhance the experience of interns/employees and will allow them to truly engage with the principles and work of The Hunger Project.
I have found this project to be fun and engaging. It has also allowed me to think critically. Rather than following a template, I have been allowed to adjust existing content and write many reflection questions for future interns/employees. One thing that I love about this project is that although I have received guidance from my internship supervisors and other THP staff, I generally have a ton of freedom in terms of the organization, design, and content. Designing this platform requires a solid understanding of THP’s mission, vision, principles, various programs, and its unique approach and strategies. Therefore, in making this form, I have learned a lot about global hunger and poverty, as well as The Hunger Project as an organization. I am really looking forward to continuing this project next week!
