Dakota – Week 2 Update 2

On Thursday, I did so much cooking. I woke up at 7:25 to go in search of yeast at the grocery store near my dad’s and wandered around the store looking for it only to find out they didn’t have any in stock at that time and then tried looking for vegetable shortening and found it on the top shelf, couldn’t reach it and only succeeded in pushing it into the shelf more by trying to grasp it and then a man walked over and asked if I wanted help and took it down for me.

Cooking wise, I started to realize how tiring cooking actually is. When cooking with my mom, she had done the prep work for the dumplings (shelling and de-veining the shrimp and cutting it and combining all the ingredients) so I only had to help wrap them and with the turnip cake I shredded the turnips and assisted with everything else. However, when cooking on my own I realized that everything is kinda tedious and labor-intensive but it ends up being rewarding when you are able to share the food and see how others enjoy it.

Also a note, the turnip cake isn’t made from actual turnips, it’s called white daikon.
