Oscar Chun- Focused Writing Week 1 (Apr.6-Apr.10) Part 1

I was finally able to meet with my cohort group this week, which turned out to be very helpful. We mostly discussed how the group was going to work, and what to expect from one another. I was able to address my anxiety towards sharing my work with other people, and they acknowledge it. While my research has been going well since I have been able to record my discussion with Richard Hawke last year, my writing still is going slowly. I still believe that it will pick up later on.

Richard Hawke was a very interesting first person to talk to. He talked about how he just writes whatever comes out of his mind and edits later. This was surprising to hear because he was a detective fiction writer, and you would expect them to have everything planned out from the start. However, his process was to just write and he then reread the story to figure out who the antagonist should be. His process seems to rely on the idea being fresh in his mind.
