Reflection:

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

She talked about how during covid teens are left in unsafe households a lot. One of her jobs is to lead a support group, and she was saying that his is a great way for kids to get help during covid. She talked about how one of her students had to hide in their closet to feel safe during their meeting. She talked about some organizations that help out LGBTQ+ teens. These include the Trevor Project, hrc, and Glad. She also talked about how she has seen a lot of really empowering things on social media helping the LGBTQ+ community as well as seeing things that were very bad. She said that one platform that has had a great community for LGBTQ+ people is Tumblr. She also said TikTok but I think that that really depends.
