What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
The cost of an abortion depends on where you get it and how far along you are. Low income people often don’t have regular access to healthcare so it might take a while to know you’re pregnant. The longer it takes to raise the money for an abortion (asking friends or family, wait for a paycheck) the more expensive that procedure becomes. Lawmakers have passed laws to make it harder to access abortion on purpose. Again, these laws affect low income people the most.
