What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
Chiney taught me that basketball is basketball and if you like the NBA then you will obviously like the WNBA. People just don’t understand that Women’s basketball is just as much basketball as Men’s basketball is basketball. She introduced this opinion to me and I really love it. Chiney also agreed and said if there are more women who work at sports networks, women’s sports would be more popular because. She said that ESPN is starting to broadcast and highlight women’s sports more often. Finally, she talked about how young the WNBA is and how the NBA has been around for so much longer, and that the WNBA will grow over time just like the NBA did.
