What I did:
We met with Ms. Kantor in the Cafeteria of the New York Times. We asked her some questions, and then she quickly gave us a tour of the Newsroom. It was a very good and educational experience for our group.
What I learned:
I learned a bit about how Jodi Kantor and her partner, Megan Twohey, wrote the article that exposed Harvey Weinstein’s awful crimes; and the process they had to go through to show the truth to the people. I also learned how, unlike many other women we have interviewed, Ms. Kantor does not get hate mail about her stories (which is very good!)
What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:
I learned during this visit that no matter what cost, the truth must come out. For example, in their case, Harvey Weinstein payed them for ads in their newspaper and threatened to stop if they exposed him. Even though he did this, they still wrote the truth.
