What I did:

As a grade, we made 247 postcards and sent them to people to get them to vote four Amendment 4. People who didn’t know when to vote were mainly the ones who didn’t know when they could vote, so we told them.

What I learned:

I learned that Amendment 4 needs 60% of the votes in order to pass. I also learned that Amendment 4 will re-enfranchise 1.5 million felons.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

I learned that it is important for ex-felons to vote because taking away their voting rights is immoral and is taking away a huge part of the voters in Florida, since in the U.S. there is such a high crime rate. It takes work to get people to vote, and I believe that because we wrote those postcards, amendment 4 has that much of a higher chance to pass.

Alon

Alon is an eighth grade student at LREI. He loves ping pong. Alon is interested in plastic pollution because plastic is going to harm humans in the immediate future if the issue is not resolved. Furthermore, in the US, for every 500 Milliliters of water, there is a 94% chance that there are 4-5 micro-plastics in the water. Micro-plastics can enter your cells and cause cancer.
