What I did:

We interviewed Pulitzer Prize winner Will Hobson, a journalist at the Washington Post. Recently, he has been writing about sexual assault in the Olympics.

What I learned:

We learned that Larry Nassar, the USA gymnastics team doctor, has been sexually assaulting young female athletes during examinations. Most of these athletes are too scared to say anything, for fear of being a disgrace to the team.

What I learned about Social Justice “work” and/or Civil and Human rights “work” from this fieldwork:

Mr. Hobson talked to us about how he gets information from sources. We asked him this because of his valuable experience as a reporter. He told us that the only thing to do is be persistent. If an organization or person is hesitant about meeting up with you, just keep contacting them. He told us that calling someone is much more efficient than emailing, partly because it’s a lot harder to ignore.
