On January 9th, the same day we had interviewed Jacqueline Patterson we went to a rally in front of Chuck Schumer’s office to speak against Trump’s cabinet. I hate Trump and his cabinet picks. Every one of them would personally see to it that every tree would be burned down to scorching ashes if it financially benefits them. All they care about is money and power, and you may ask me what my proof is: Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon mobil (a natural gas company). It has been proved that Exxon mobil has known for longer than anyone else that burning all that gas would eventually lead to too much carbon which results in global warming. He is now obviously aware of this considering he is CEO of the entire company. Now he has even more power as a cabinet member. It’s like playing hot potato with a ticking time bomb, but you’re playing this game with yourself. And that is why we went to the rally on a day when it was below freezing with freezing cold wind blowing into our faces. Our group was bundled up in layers of clothing, some of which we borrowed from teachers and other students. We knew that we would be standing outside protesting Trump’s cabinet for a couple of hours, so we had to be prepared. When we arrived in front of Chuck Schumer’s office we were surprised at the number of people that were present, and we were considering returning back to school if the rally turned out to be a very small group of people. But as we stood there the number of protesters increased until there was a pretty decent amount of people present. They were pretty angry, and it was a great feeling to get out and actually do something. During that time we and everyone else chanted a few rhyming lyrics like, “Show me what democracy looks like; this is what democracy looks like.” We stood there for about 45 minutes and we couldn’t stand it anymore, we were freezing out there. So we searched for the nearest Starbucks where we took our gloves off and had a hot chocolate or a decaf coffee thing. After a few minutes warming up we ventured back outside. There we rallied until we finally had a rally representative enter the building and attempt to get tax returns from Chuck Schumer. We wanted his tax returns to see if he had found a loophole in his taxes.
