At this monthly membership meeting, we helped WEACT, an organization that is trying to end environmental racism. We sat at the check-in desk and took people’s name and information before they went into the meeting. This meeting was about how we can use energy safely and more efficiently. There was a senator who spoke about using electric cars. He said that if everyone used them instead of gas, global warming would not be an issue. One thing that surprised me was the diversity of the group – not the color of their skin, but the way they dressed. I expected it to be very formal. A lot of the group members members had sketchy street like clothing. One question I have is how do people find out about organizations like this? Also, how does environmental justice affect their lives?
