As our last fieldwork ended with Travis Ballie. Travis works for NARAL or Pro-Choice America.  Pro-Choice America is NARAL Pro-Choice America is a 501 organization in the United States that engages in political action and advocacy efforts to oppose restrictions on abortion and expand access to abortion, in other words, fights for women’s reproductive rights health. When Travis first arrived he brought a bag full of materials for his lesson and some real stickers (not going to lie they were pretty cool). Once we all as a grade sat down, Travis began his presentation. He first explained how he got into this field and started with a personal story. Travis explained the most powerful moment in his life was when he came out to his mom that he was gay. She accepted him and that made him feel special, for a while he was fighting for LGBTQ rights. However, when his mother shared that she had access to abortion, he felt like this was his mission to fight for women’s reproductive rights.

Overall Travis was an excellent speaker and gave us a lot of knowledge that myself and my group did not have before his visit. Also, I did see many kids in our grade open their eyes to this topic and realize that this a serious issue around the world and even around our country. Hopefully, our grade felt as empowered as my group and me, and want to take action and help save women’s reproductive rights
