Interview with Phil Kassen

We met with Phil Kassen on January 23rd. We interviewed about the school’s water filtration system and we learned a lot. Recently the school had people come and check the water filtration. They checked the pipes for the water fountains and for all the classroom sinks. The water was tested and they found small trace amounts of lead. They found small amounts of lead in the pipes, and even though the percentage of the lead in the pipes was really small (much lower than the required amount) they put in a filtration system. Now there are filters for all of our water fountains. They put filters not only in the lower and middle school but also the high school just to be safe. They also don’t reuse the extra water (the water that while your drinking you don’t get in your mouth). I think that it’s sort of a waste and I hope that in the future we don’t have to and maybe someone could invent a way to filter that water so it’s not all wasted even though it’s not that dirty. Not reusing the excess water is safer however and I’m glad that our school is safe.

My name is Ruby and I'm interested in Water pollution. I'm interested in water pollution because not a lot of people care about the giant problem we are facing and I want to stop that. We're not taking our actions into consideration and we should be trying harder to conserve our earth. There are lots of little things we can do to help our ecosystem and our environment and if that means saving hundreds of thousands of marine animals than I don't understand why we wouldn't of s=done these things earlier.
