On December 16th, 2016 my social justice group and I interviewed David Chang with We Act. David specialized in indoor environmental justice. We decided as a group that we wanted to go more into depth in that field and decided that David would be perfect to interview. We interviewed him after school one day and learned valuable information to help us. We talked about how today environmental racism and injustice is happening. Some current events that are happening right now are things like, the Flint Water Crisis and North Dakota Access Pipeline. We talked about with a new president a lot of things will change and that the next 4 years will be a very hard but they have plans to keep things going. If the new president wants to change everything he is able to change the EPA, things will be very different from going to a president who wants a progressive EPA and then transitioning to a president who wants to change it all. He also taught us these sites called “superfund sites”. These sites are very dangerous due to contaminants being spilled and the entire site being contaminated. If a regular site has any sort of leak it has the potential to turn into a superfund site and now the government will use funds to clean it up as best as they can. David taught us a lot with that interview and helped us become more knowledgeable so that we can help out even more.
